Curmudgeon’s Corner
cur·mudg·eon
Noun:
-A bad-tempered or surly person.
I prefer to see the curmudgeon as your worldly yet slightly grouchy Uncle who gives you his views straight up, who has a low stupidity tolerance threshold. The curmudgeon may be heard to say such wisdoms as “You made your own bed, now sleep in it”, “Fortune favours the strong” or “It sucks to be you”
Now, I am not claiming to be an expert at being a curmudgeon, but I aspire to the levels of W.C Fields who said he doesn’t drink water because fish f**k in it, or Groucho Marx who bemused that he would not join a club that would have him as a member.
That is curmudgeonly genius.
I have a fascination with “popular culture”, the way in which we consume, digest and secrete the happenings of the day. It used to be that every generation needed it’s heroes or villains, now it seems it is every week that we need a new one.
I will cover a wide range of topics here, whatever happens to amuse or bemuse me. I try to focus on the funny edge of the world, the absurdity of truth which always seems to be stranger than fiction. These observances are purely for my own entertainment, but I hope that there are followers of the way of the curmudgeon, and that I may be worthy of your readership.
“Curmudgeon all things equally”
May your God go with you…
